T-Ball @ Neuenburg Atomics

Am 25. Juni 2017 hatte das T-Ball Team der Therwil Flyers zum ersten Mal in der Ära von Headcoach Sophie Zihlmann ein Auswärtsspiel. Die Therwil Flyers waren zu Gast bei den Atomics Neuenburg.
Voller Vorfreude und vielleicht auch mit ein bisschen Nervosität trafen sich die Therwil Flyers Sonntagmorgen beim Wunderschönen Ballpark der Atomics Neuenburg. Nach einem kurzen Warm-Up begann das Spiel und wie es sich für die Auswärtsmannschaft gehört, begannen die Flyers in der Offensive. Was die Zuschauer dann zu sehen bekamen war grossartig. Harte Hits, super Baserunning, hohe Konzentration und kaum Fehler zwischen Bases. Verglichen zu den letzten Spielen war ein grosser Fortschritt erkennbar. Die wöchentlichen Baserunning Trainings zeigten ihre Wirkung. Die kleinen Fehler im Baserunning (Base nicht berühren, träumend auf dem Base stehen etc.) sah man kaum.
Nachdem jeder Spieler einmal geschlagen hatte, waren die Flyers dann in der Defensive beschäftigt. Auch hier war ein grosser Fortschritt erkennbar. Es wurden diverse schöne Outs auf 1st Base und 2nd Base gemacht. Die Spieler kannten ihre Position und behielten diese auch. Die Zeiten als sich 4 Spieler auf einen Balle stürzten sind vorbei. Bei Aussichtlosen Plays in der der Runner schon nahe oder auf dem Base ist werden die Bälle nicht einfach mehr Richtung 1st Base geworfen. Die Kinder erkennen die Situation, werfen auf 2nd Base oder behalten den Ball in den Händen. Eine riesen Leistung dieser jungen Baseballspieler.
Insgesamt wurden 7 Inning gespielt, das Line-Up durcheinander gewürfelt und auch in der Defensive wurden die Positionen gewechselt. Die Kinder waren voll motiviert und begeistert bei der Sache. Am Ende Spiels sah man auf beiden Seiten leuchtende Augen, ganz professionell wurde der Hand Shake gemacht und die Spieler stellten sich zum Gruppenfoto auf.
Nach dem Spiel gab Headcoach Sophie Zihlmann den zahlreichen Medien zu Protokoll, dass Sie sehr stolz auf ihr Team sei. Das wöchentliche Training zahle sich aus und wenn man Vergleiche mit letztem Sommer zieht, sind bei allen Spielern grosse Fortschritte erzielt worden.
Einen grosses Dankeschön an die Atomics Neuenburg für die Organisation des Spiels und der gesunden Pausenverpflegung. Übrigens, viele Spieler und Eltern waren noch nie in Neuenburg und machten grosse Augen als sie den Wunderschönen Ballpark der Atomics zum ersten Mal sahen. Neid kam auf, wenn am bedenkt unter welchen Bedingungen in Therwil gespielt wird.

The 25th of June the Therwil Flyers T-Ball Team travelled to their first away game in the era of Head Coach Sophie Zihlmann. The Flyers played the Atomics Neuenburg in Germany. Full of anticipation and maybe a little bit nervous the players meet each other at the wonderful ballpark of in Neuenburg.
After a short warm up the flyers started as the away Team in the offense. What the team showed was impressive. Nice hits, perfect base running, highly concentrated and more or less no mistakes between the bases. Compared with the last games there was a huge step forward. The weekly base running practice paid off. The small mistakes done in past (not touching the bases, dreaming on the base etc.) where not done at all. After every player had his at bat the Flyers played in the defence. Apparently also in the defence the players made a big step forward. They made some really nice outs on 1st and 2nd base. Furthermore the kids knew what their position is and were not running over the whole field, trying to reach a ball hit by the Atomics. If they fielded a ball and the play looked hopeless, they were not just throwing towards 1st base. The kids recognized the situation and threw the ball to 2nd base or kept in their hands. Great job by these young players.
In total we played 7 innings while mixing up the line-up and also changing the positions in the defence. The kids where fully motivated and totally exited. After the game there were shining eyes on both sides and like the professionals they gave hand shake to each other and came together for a reminder pic.
After the game headcoach Sophie Zihlmann told the numerous newspapers, tv & radio stations that she’s really proud of her team. The weekly practice is paying off and if you compare with last summer, every player did a big step.
 A big thank you to the Atomics Neuenburg for the organisation of this game and the healthy break refreshment. By the way, a lot of players and parents where the first time in Neuenburg and they were impressed about what they saw. A beautiful and professional ballpark. Yes, we got a bit jealous.
